The Intersection of Blackness and Mental Health

Evenbrite’s Black&Brite is commemorating Black History Month (yes, even in November!) with a thoughtful celebration of Black excellence. In partnership with the Belovd Agency, join us for a progressive panel discussion exploring the unique challenges and complexities of mental well-being in Black communities.

Join us as we discuss and unpack various topics from how to prevent burnout, what is the Black Tax, what it is like advancing younger, and earning more than your family, the ceiling for Black people and how to navigate different cultural customs in the workplace vs at home.

Learn more about our speakers:

Writer, director and host of the Say Your Mind Podcast, Kelechi Okafor, is a Baby Girl and lover of words. GUAP Cultural Hero of the Year, MBCC Awards Social Activist of the Year, and BAFTA member are just a few of her accolades. But the awards are incomparable to her impact – seen across social media, international speaking opportunities, sold out live shows, and the dedicated community she has built around her podcast and work.

Romantha Botha has a well-rounded career in news and storytelling – from print and online media to radio and TV. In 2022 she left the world of news reporting to become a documentary filmmaker. She has a passion for uplifting and empowering Black women and was involved in the formation of Dope Black Women South Africa - a digital community space that empowers, supports and uplifts Black women. She is currently the MD for Belovd Agency.

Marvyn Harrison is a business and community leader with a focus on driving culture change. He has become a positive voice on behalf of Black people around the world as the founder and driving force behind Dope Black CIC, an educational and community led platform. Named by Forbes as ‘One Of 25 Black Voices To Follow’ and HSBC’s ‘Top 25 Black Entrepreneurs 2021’, Marvyn is also an award winning podcaster, broadcaster and children’s author.

At just 17 years old, Vanessa Sam, AKA ‘Inspiring Vanessa’, can list presenter, actor, speaker and role model on her CV. She has interviewed everyone from Regina King and Scarlett Johansson to David Walliams and Florence Pugh, and her passion for helping and motivating others saw her awarded The Diana Award 2021. A year after launching her own talk show, The Inspiring Vanessa Show, she was featured in the Top 20 Female Speakers.

Sabeha Mohamed leads Inbound Sales Creator Acquisition for Eventbrite’s main English speaking markets. She is a member of Eventbrite's Briteling Belonging Group, Black&Brite, and is passionate about sharing the stories and experiences of those from minority backgrounds. Since becoming a mum in 2021, Sabeha has become even more curious about how to improve her mental resilience and balance the mental load of a tech career and parenting a toddler.

Don't miss this chance to be a part of an unforgettable experience!
