Kids Carnival Club

Half an hour of carnival dance and history with Zaiah Arts, then half an hour turning a plain tee into a wearable masterpiece with feathers, gems and glitter. They'll walk out ready for Children's Day.

The t-shirt is the culture

Long before the big costumes and the truck sound systems, carnival started with people making something of their own — a bit of paint, a few sequins, a flag's colours stitched into whatever you had on. Mas has always been about personalisation. Nobody's costume looks like anyone else's, and that's the whole point.

Our t-shirt session isn't just an arts and crafts hour. It's a chance for kids to learn that carnival is something you make, not just something you watch — and to walk into Children's Day wearing a piece of themselves.

Rep your flag. Bring your country's colours, your family's flag, whatever heritage you're proud of — we've got feathers, gems and glitter in every shade to help you wear it loud.

FAQ

Do I need to bring my own t-shirt?

Bring a plain tee from home if you've got one you want to use, or grab one on the day — either way works.

What age is this for?

Great for primary-school-aged children. Younger siblings are welcome to join in with a grown-up nearby.

Do parents need to stay?

Yes — it's a hands-on hour with feathers, glue and gems flying, so we ask a parent or carer to stay in the room.

Is there step-free access?

SPID Theatre has accessible ground-floor entry with a lift.

Panorama and last-minute collections both run through Ladbroke Grove this weekend — this is the one stop before it all kicks off.
